The “Big Papa” Of Pizza Rakes In The Dough-Online! Modifying Embryos- The Latest Moral Dilemma?
May 13

Whether you are a fan of Gladiators, Moles, Bachelors, or talent competitions, there are certainly enough reality TV shows on to suit the tastes of just about every type of individual. Television has been literally inundated with reality-type TV shows and it’s almost impossible not to see one or two on the tube during prime-time. Chances are, you are even a loyal fan of some of them.  There are literally hundreds of reality-type shows taking over the airways and many people are growing weary of all the hype surrounding them. Some say that the bad behavior and truly bad acting is making these once fun and entertaining shows too fake to be believable. Fans of Fox’s mega-hit, Survivor, have even spoken up to complain about the fact that the once very real, very believable, format of the competition-based show now seems to be over-edited and not as authentic as it once was.  As it turns out, very few people believe there’s much reality in reality TV: 82% say the shows are either “totally made up” or “mostly distorted.”  “They pick the personality types to fit a role. I don’t think it’s really real,” said Brenda Sobol, a 42-year-old homemaker from Susanville, Calif. “It’s kind of bogus. I think they pretty much know what the outcomes are going to be or they wouldn’t do the programs.”

However, television producers aren’t panicking just yet. They believe that even though some may think the shows are fake or distorted, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they won’t watch.  Sixty-eight percent of viewers said it “didn’t matter, or only mattered a little”, whether the shows were truthful or not. And how about the Gorilla’s favorite reality show and one of his favorite shows overall, The Apprentice? Is it mostly fake? Yes, it seems as if there is obviously a bit of acting that must take place for entertainment purposes, but perhaps it is just the nature of the beast! The show is highly entertaining and intellectually stimulating, so the Gorilla will continue to watch regardless. With the continued popularity of these shows, it seems obvious that, at least for a while, reality shows are here to stay. The one question the Gorilla wants to know….when will they make a reality show about the Gorilla?
